About my work:My paintings all have a general theme of quiet solitude (my favorite). Being in a place devoid of the hustle and bustle of human life, but not excluding humanity altogether. I try to show a timeless place; a place that seems as if it has always been, and will always continue to be. My current series is of places from around Japan. I have lived thus far in 3 different cities here (Kyoto, Toyohashi, and Amagasaki) and travelled to probably 20-30 different towns and cities. My favorite places here are the small towns because they give a real sense of natural Japan. About me: Hello and thank you for your interest in my artwork. My name is Chris Bogert, and I'm a painter, woodblock printer, and shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo flute) musician & maker. I currently live in Amagasaki, Hyogo, Japan where I study painting and drawing as well as the shakuhachi flute. I'm a graduate of Evergreen State college in Washington State. I mainly studied watercolor painting, woodblock printing, and Chinese/Japanese art history. I'm currently looking for a part-time job here. I want to focus more on my artwork. My last job was quite time consuming and allowed me very little time for artwork. Exhibitions: SFCC gallery: group show April-June 2004Maximum Exposure: Studio and Gallery: group show (17 pieces by me) July-Sept 2004.Been rather busy since then, looking to exhibit after I return from Japan or in Japan, and have built up a body of work.
