Viviana Gerston was born in Haifa, Israel on May 17
th 1982. When she was 3 years old, her family moved to South Africa where she would grow up there for 16 years, before returning to Israel at age 18.
From a very early age, Viviana’s talent was embedded in music, as she was born with perfect pitch – an extremely rare talent among musicians in the past, as well as today.
In elementary school through high school, Viviana participated in talent shows, sang in the school choir, as well as other school events. In her childhood, Viviana took up guitar and piano lessons. She also played the recorder. Viviana’s last 3 years of High school was learning Light Music at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg – where she proved to be an outstanding student: in her 2nd year, she won a scholarship to pay tuition for that year, she aced all her courses with A+ average for All 3 years, and in the last year of her music studies – she was Valedictorian!
Upon returning to Israel, Viviana went on to study at the prestigious Rimon School of Jazz, where once again, she would excel in both courses and competitions. In 2002, for Shirimon, Viviana performed her own rendition of “Bashana Ha Baáh” at Yad HaLebanim and received a “Special Mention” for her interpretation of the song. The performance, which was recorded, was only broadcast 3 years later in 2005 on Channel 2.
Viviana was a guest on Iris Lavi’s program “Olim Al Hagal” on Reshet Bet in January of 2006. Viviana’s original compositions were played live on air. Her songs were also played on 88Fm twice.
Viviana has completed her studies in Rimon and is now a Graduate.
On Saturday March 17th 2007, Viviana performed at the Cancer Support concert in Modi'in. Among the members of the audience were the Mayor of Modi'in, Mr. Spektor, Rabbi Segel, and other high profile people.
Viviana is in the process of recording her first proffessional album, which will include all the songs in the
music section. The album will be ready at the beginning of 2008. In addition to that, Viviana was invited to audition for Kochav Nolad in February 2007.
