I had the same problem. I solved it by changing the following registry entry from 0 (Monday) to 6 (Sunday): HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\International\iFirstDayOfWeek.

The week starts with Monday, you are probably reading some system settings. But it would really be nice to have that as an option. Some of my friends work on foreign language Windows, but still like to have their calendar the European way.

This is fantastic!! I have a dual-boot laptop (Fedora Linux/Win XP) and I love the monthly calendar that comes up in linux when you click the date. It was very annoying to me that windows didn't have a similar option... but now it does!! I'm so glad I found this (from a post on Lifehacker.com). Thanks!
