| This is an experiment using a digital image I took of a wild rose growing in my little garden. I used Photoshop to eliminate the background and then printed a very faint color image of the roses on 90 lb cold press. Then it was almost like "paint by number" when I overpainted it with strong saturations of watercolor and watercolor pencils. Cheating ? Yep, but it was fun :)) |

| My daughter cut this out of a magazine and asked if I could use the same technique to create a "watercolor painting" from the photo. This is the result. Overpainted on 90 lb cold press with watercolor and watercolor pencils. Loads of fun.. She now has a half dozen or so of her favorite "photo-watercolors" hanging in her home :) I know, I know ... I cheated. :) |

| This is an enhanced digital print created from the snapshot below. After the distractions in the snapshot were eliminated via Photoshop, the image was passed just once through the "dry brush" filter and a very faint color image was printed on on 90 lb watercolor paper and then overpainted with watercolor and watercolor pencils. The final 'painting' measures 16 x 11 inches. (Best viewed at the "Original Size") |

| This is the snapshot my daughter gave me and asked if I would create a painting from it. As you see, there are lots power lines, telephone poles, traffic lights, etc. Photoshop came to the rescue and allowed me to "Clone out" the distractions and prepare the working print for the painting.
See the completed digital overpaint above. |
