Amit kumar have had great bengali albums over the years. At least there are 2/3 songs that has good melody in it. Even this year's (2006) relese "Aakabaka Pothe" has 3 very good numbers. Others are a "chalta hai" types. I have till date purchased seven puja albums by various artists like - Suman, Srikanto, Lakhichara, Lopa, etc, but all have turned out to be mediocre to mpoor rating. One to two songs from all these albums really stands out. What a pity on the Bengali music scenario!!!!! In fact I find it is better to buy Rabindrasangeet/Bhakigeets a much better buy than these modern song albums. I find Amit kumar's albums always a better bet than all other albums.

Last year I chanced upon an album "Nana Ronge" by Gargi - a new comer. Foru/fivr songs were simply excellant. I must mention that Joy Sarkar is brilliant music composer. This year too he has woven songs for Srikanto and they have stood apart in melody and presentation.

Comming back to Amit kumar - let me know if u have other old bengali albums. I remember one album, released on the occasion of Kolkata's tercentenary(300 yrs). I am looking out particularly for this number - "Ekdin sokale, ekta baccha meye hotat ese amai bollo! Aei je kolkatar tinso bochor, tate amar ki laav holo". It was too good a band song. Those days we were yet to see the advent of Bangla rock bands in kolkata, and yet Amit had a rock number to this credit. I am still looking out for this number. If anyone of you have it, do share with us. Also someone take up the responsibility of letting the world know of all the albums relesed but amit till date. Maybe Amit does not know even!!!! I have looked out at all good music shops in kolkata for these albums but all searches have turned futule. So plz plz plz someone post these songs from old albums.
