German snuff box by Elias Adam, Augsburg 1718-1720

A German silver gilt snuff box mark of Elias Adam, Augsburg, 1718-1720. Cartouche shaped, the hinged glazed cover set with finely carved ivory plaque depicting a battle scene, possibly of the Siege of Vienna, 1683, most probably made by Johann Michel Hornung, sculptor born and died Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, 1646 - 1706. The sides chased with foliage scrolls on a matted ground, the base chased with a dog and bird within a landscape, marked on cover bezel. Provenance with Galerie J. Kugel Paris. An interesting Art Deco cigarette case by Louis Kuppenheim of Pforzheim, Germany. Regarded as one of Germany's leading Art Deco silversmiths.
Solid silver and enamel case with applied solid 14ct gold monogram with Coronet. The Coronet contains little gems. The case measures 9 cm x 5,2 cm x 1 cm. The case weighs 128 gms . The monogram FS with a Finnish Nobleman's Coronet. F for Frideborg Ruth Helena Elisabeth Stjernvall born 24-10-1911, maiden name Ingberg. Married 1935 to S for Nils Göran Edvard Stjernvall, widow 1943. Finnish nobility family 117 Stjernvall(Starwall). Words of appreciation.
