Many people over the years have asked me the question of "Did you record that", or "how can I get a copy of the music from this morning" with regards to the praise and worship.
Years ago, the "soundboard guys" attempted to record the whole service, and in my opinion, the final product (cassette only) was marginal at best. The mixer we were using, the Mackie, while a big improvement over it's predecessor the Peavey Mark IV, was still grossly inadequate. Once we began the recording onto CD with the definitive purpose of broadcasting the sermons on radio and the Web, I made the Executive decision to STOP attempting to record the music at NCF, and to spend more focus on getting a good copy of the sermon.
It's a new day with the Yamaha M7CL. With the new digital capabilities and the isolation we get from in-ear monitoring, we are able to achieve a much better recorded live music product than we ever have before. However, I still want to control the release of these items with regards to my opinion on the quality of the mix, and of the performance, as well as perhaps avoiding any copyright issues that may be out there.
Having said all that, enjoy!
