There isn't a genre of music that touches my soul as deeply as the blues...

 

Some of these tracks aren't typical blues..Some are more R&B.. But most will have a definite Blues feel to them...

some mixes are very old....some need to be re-sang  they were recorded when I was just starting to explore the blues..so be gentle... lol.. : )  It's all In good fun   :)

I Hear You Knockin.mp3
I Hear You Knocking Written by Dave Bartholomew and Pearl King and published in 1955, this Rhythm & Blues standard was first recorded by Smiley Lewis that same year, and has since been covered many times, most famously by Edmunds. This is a fave from my childhood.. a recent convo was the inspiration for this...it kept playing in my head..so I had to record it! :) My friend Laurie from Scotland was kind enough to share the backing with me! Friday night I ran in to an old friend.. and they asked me to sing them a kick ass rockin blues tune.. this SRV tune was just the ticket... I realized I had never recorded it.. so a couple of minutes of singing..and hours of mixing with 10 different mixes in the recycle bin..this is what I came up with.. :)

Written and originally performed by James Taylor, Elvis also had a hit with this one..however of the three covers I have of this.. I prefer the Soul Miner's Daughters version,sang by Jennifer Nettles currently of the successful group Sugarland. This version is I suspect bits and pieces of the three versions.. another words.. definitely Red's version.. :)
