These videos capture exactly what the Range Of Motion Project (ROMP) believes in - Empowerment Through Mobility. The people on these videos received prosthetic treament at the ROMP clinic in Zacapa, Guatemala during the summer of 2006. It is virtually impossible for most people in Guatemala to access proper prosthetic rehabilitation after losing an arm or a leg. All too often these amputees are children and parents. The causes of amputation range from the strange SNAKEBITE, as in the case of Edgar, to the all to common TRAFFIC ACCIDENT, which is what happened to Victor. The only thing worse than having an injury/amputation in Guatemala is not being able to find or afford the simple and obvious solution to your problem - PROSTHETICS.
The Range Of Motion Project is answering a need that amputees in Guatemala have. ROMP is a non-profit public charity founded in the US. ROMP is able to provide quality services to the poor in Guatemala because of an ever growing network of amputee sponsors, industry donors, volunteers and supporters who all share a common sentiment.
"We know that amputation is only a disability because of a missing prosthesis, not because of the missing limb."
