While I usually post recordings under my pseudonym, PCSongman, today, I'm simply Howard Fields, a 1973 graduate of Paramus High School in Paramus, New Jersey.
I'm delighted to announce the posting of some very special recordings made at the PHS Choir Alumni Reunion held at Walt Disney World in July of 2002. This reunion was held in honor of our former choral director, Norman Allen, who taught music at PHS from 1959 until 1985. Over that span of time approximately 1500 students became members of Norm's choirs. For many of these former students, Norm became a lifelong friend. So many in fact, that we were able to locate almost 800 people who sang under Norm's direction over those years. More than 150 former studends attended the reunion, many with their families in tow, to spend time with one of their favorite teachers.
As you'll hear in the recordings, Norm remains both a humorous and demanding choral director. The weekend included a choir performance of much of our favorite music, which we had the foresight to record. While a long time in coming, those recordings have finally been converted to MP3s, edited, mastered and posted here for all to enjoy. In addition, the MP3s will soon be made available for download at our website www.phschoir.org.
It doesn't matter if you attended Paramus High School or not. Almost everyone who sings has memories of someone like Norm Allen. So I'm certain if you've decided to open this folder, that you will relate to what you hear. Be sure to listen to track 23 for an original song I composed and recorded for the reunion that puts this all into proper perspective.
To get started just click the word "Listen" just below this post and sit back and enjoy the music.
