God is dead. Or at least so I thought when this was recorded. Generated from filtered feedback and a ring-modulator set up to do pitch division. Recorded on a domestic machine, either late 1973 or early 1974.

Olympia - Foolish pilgrim.mp3
Ring-modulation of two wind instruments on tape, modulated again by a third in real time. Recorded in February 1974 using two Ferrograph recorders. A touch of Kaleidophon about this piece, especially during the final minute.

Olympia-Bel sits upon the Rolling Sea.mp3
Recorded in the closing days of 1973 on a domestic tape machine. The track features a tenor recorder. The last minute of the track moves into another piece called 'The Mirrored Sea,' which I later recorded separately.

Olympia-Bellavista.mp3
Recorded in December 1974, on an Akai 40000 DS Mk II (the most versatile and flexible machine available at the time). Created using an instrumental technique (wind instrument and pitch-divider/multiplier) which was mostly abandoned within a year, in favour of keyboards and direct signal injection. The stereo image is from the original session. Recorded in an upstairs room at Craigleith in Edinburgh.

Recorded in late 1973 on a domestic recorder, using a modified Watkins Copycat (I added a fourth tape head half-way round the loop). One of very few vocal tracks from this period. Edited into shape in the autumn of 2007.

Recorded late summer 1973. A giveaway for the general date is a home-built voltage-control electronic organ which appears at a couple of points. The piano which can be heard was recorded in early 1973.

Olympia-Angels (parts 1 & 2).mp3
Recorded about seven months after 'Bellavista' in June 1975. This longish piece probably represents the high point of the technique I was using at the time (wind instrument and pitch-divider/multiplier) - it was very unreliable, and was abandoned shortly afterwards. Recorded on an Akai 4000DS Mk II. The backwards source came from a tape running on an Akai M-8.
