OWL-Series

Steve Lawton has me intrigued with the idea of showing a 'work-in-progress'. I have photographed lots of paintings throughout their gestation, and have decided to post this particular one. One day last spring, we were delighted to see that a miniature ( 7-8" tall!) 'Northern Saw-Whet' owl had established itself outside our big picture window. A rare sighting, and a famous symbol of GOOD LUCK, I just had to paint it.

I lied. Apparently the portrait of our little friend the OWL i s NOT finished. I had a chance to work on it some more. Really, I'm very close now, but not quite!

Excellent painting. I am amazed by the precision of the strokes and the detailing. You have mentioned it is still in the finishing process. Were it not for that comment, I would've thought otherwise Happy
