Nazia was the first British Asian girl of Pakistani origin to make an impact on the Bollywood music industry apart from altogether sweeping the Pakistani pop scene. she was the first real pop star of the Indian music. • Was born on 3rd April 1965 in Karachi Pakistan.

• As a young child, she frequently appeared in the PTV’s music program for children, called “Kalyon ki Mala”

• Fifteen-year-old Nazia recorded the song “Aap Jaisa Koi” in 1980 for the film Qurbani

• Launched the immensely successful Disco Dewane in 1980

• Became the heartthrob of teenagers with songs like: Aap Jesa Koi, Komal Komal, Boom Boom, Dum Dum Dee Dee, Aao na Pyar Karain, and many more...

• Had a London University (Lancastor Gate)  Law Degree and spent most of her time in Britain

• A lot of her money was given to charity

• Set up an organisation to help the poor and at the peak of her popularity made special appearances on TV for children

• Spent a lot of her time with young people, educating them about the dangers of drugs

• Married to an entrepreneur, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, on 30 March 1995, with whom she had a son, Areez, in 1997.

• She had an unhappy marriage and sought divorce on 5th August 2000 just few days before she died

• Had been suffering from cancer since 1998

• Was only 35 years old when she passed away on 13th August 2000 because of Lung cancer

On 22nd March 2002, The President of Pakistan conferred upon Nazia Hassan the Highest Civil Award, Pride Of Performance, for contribution in the field of Art, Culture & Music. Mrs. Muniza Baser, Mother of Nazia Hassan received the Award on her Behalf.
