Ecole Biblique - St. Stephen's Convent
The Ecole Biblique (French Biblical and Archaeological School) a.k.a. St. Stephen's Convent is a Dominican institution founded in the 1880s. Located just north of Jerusalem's Damascus Gate, it is also the place where I have lived and worked as a volunteer since 2005.

SPECIAL VIDEO - WINTER 2007 - St. Stephens in the Snow
On 27 DEC 2006, Jerusalem was graced with a bit of snow, the magic and beauty of which inspired this humble little homemade movie intended as a holiday greeting. I offer it in the spirit of friendship and goodwill, with my best wishes. The scenes are of Jerusalem's St. Stephen's Convent (The Ecole Biblique), where I live and work as a volunteer. Peace to you all...

Byzantine St. Stephen's
This site, sponsored by Notre Dame University, focuses on the Byzantine period history of St. Stephen's Monastery (the Ecole Biblique). It is based in part on work directed by Dr. Susan Sheridan on the human and other remains recovered from the St. Stephen's tomb complexes.

BiblePlaces.com -- High-quality Holy Land images+ free e-newsletter
This site is the work of my friend Todd Bolen who teaches Biblical Geography, Archaeology, etc. for the Masters College IBEX program based near Jerusalem. He offers a terrific set of his own high-resolution images designed with teachers in mind, a collection of historic images and texts, and other goodies. A good general reference tool for biblical places.

The Book & the Spade -- Weekly radio program on Biblical Archaeology topics
This program, I believe, is unique in all the world: a 15-minute weekly discussion or interview -- often with top people in the field -- about archaeology in the Land of the Bible and related topics, hosted by Gordon Govier in Madison, WI. Listen here on demand, or as an MP3 download or podcast, plus many years of programs are archived.

"The Holy Land" (guide book)
This, for my money, is the best carry-along guide to the archaeology and history of sites in Israel-Palestine -- the kind of book the guides use! An updated 5th Edition, which I have had the privilege of contributing to, should be out in early 2008.

"First Photographs of the Holy Land"
Digital collection of some of the earliest Holy Land images, apparently drawn from a book of the same name by Eli Shiller. Each image is offered in three formats, S-M-L. (NOTE: No endorsement of the book or the parent web-site is implied; e.g., an introductory page proposes that the 19th century Arab residents of Palestine were modern-day migrant workers from neighboring lands and not native "Palestinians," an outrageous notion that is demonstrably false. -tp)
