All of my filenames are written in a similar format. They include the date mmddyy, the method of recording SW12-469 (means Shortwave with scanning 12-469 radio), Recording number and finally what I believe is being said.
When placed all together it would look something like this:
122807Spiricomp_Record1_HowareyoutodayFrank
The different methods I have employed are listed below:
Spiricomp - a version of Mike Coletta's Spiricomp. They are 3 Radio Shack model 12-469 AM/FM digital radios that have been modified to scan without the mute function. They are placed in series with a 4 channel mixer and ran through a laptop using DC6 and SoundSoap2 software. A very effective realtime tool!
SW12-469 - is the same as above but instead of using 3 of the 12-469's i use one in combination with a shortwave radio tuned to a predetermined frequency.
Polydiode - a combination of 13 germanium diodes, grounded and tuned.
CrystalLM386 - is a series of RF crystals in a circuit with a LM386 amplifier and a 50uf/10v electrolytic capacitor. Mildly effective, needs filtering.
PCFan - exactly what it says. I record off of the laptop fan and filter out the noise using Clearvoice Denoiser. Works really well for interactive EVP.
These are just a few methods I have used. If you run into another method that is listed in my files and have questions of what it means please email me and I will be happy to answer.
FYI: Do to different levels of hearing, your ears frequency response and learned listening patterns you may hear the files different.
Best Regards,
