WAHID BANGAL writes:
All those wealthy  and genius Indian personalities who once had the opportunity to be in contact with European society and culture, had invested themselves to steal cultural materials and sell them to the Indian people in their name at a very high price ( a place in the history and hundred years to remain in people's memory is indeed a very high price, no ?) There are basically three reasons for that (out of many others). No doubt, they were great genius but still with an Indian mentality of "it's always better and marvellous on the other side " and fortunately for them, their cultural hunting ground was full of innocent people unable to verify the authenticity and the real origin of their MAHAGURU’S works and words. And the third one is, nothing was more astucieux  than to dance with the colonial music to make life a bit easier (can also resulted in some titles and prizes!) while lot of other colleagues were suffering in prison. Question arises, why don't we have another Rabindranath today? Because no writer or poet of our time have the same height of intelligence like he had, no writer or poet posses their secondary summerhouse in Europe, thanks to communication facilities, we people are in a perfect position to verify  the provenance of their works, and last of all, as there are no direct physical form of colonialism, today  there are not that much European shoes to shine with our Indian shawl to earn the assurance of a secured, easy and a famous life full of titles and prizes. (I'll be delightful to be wrong!)

Mr Wahid Bengal, I do respect your extensive research. It's a new thing to know that even Rabindranath Tegore has stolen like Anu Malik does nowadays. Thanks for your posting. Yet I'd say that he has contributed A LOT in my culture as well as YOURS. After Rabindranath and Nazrul, there are few people who contributed this much in our culture and literature. Allama Iqbal was not really our poet, Forrukh Ahmed was a frustrated muslim poet, Bongkim is impossble to be read by ordinary people, Michael Modhushudon Dutt is too rich to digest without a dictionary, Jibonanado Das gives you pleasure for a limited time. I do remember when I was in the college, our Bangla madam was explaining SHOMUDRER PROTI RABON. I couldn't shed my tears inside the class as I could feel the pain of Rabon's heart as a Father. Michael was extremely good to be true. He played devil's advocate and made someone cry. It wasn't an easy job. It was like crying for Azazil after being expelled from heaven. Milton explained the same thing in his Paradise Lost. I have been living in London for last five years and you'd be surprised to know that some singers who sing in the STV here even don't know the proper lyrics. For instance, in the song 'Moyurkonthi Rater Neele', there is a line 'Korina bhoy nikhiley (NIKHIL-World). Surprisingly, the singer sang, Korina Bhoy MICHILEY! (Michil- procession). This is the people we are talking about who doens't need to know whether or not R.Tegore was a copycat, he DID some TREMENDOUS CONTRIBUTION to our culture. I listen to Aatif Aslam, I listen to many other songs sung by very nice singers with lovely vocal chord...yet Rabindra Sangeet touches the deepest of my soul and it will. In my iPod, I do listen to Rabindra Sangeet while I come back from work, exhaused....it revitalises me. Even if I need to be placed in the deepest layer in hell to support Rabindranath, I'd wholeheartedly accept that but I'd support his work.By the way literature is not my subject, I am an MBA. So it wasn't an expert opinion, it was entirely personal comment.

Dear Kallol jee,  I would like to inform you that, those who have posted their comments here, belong to the only country of the world that uses BANGLA  as it's language of expression in United Nation's tribune ( and not Hindi, Urdu nor English) and the one and only nation on this earth officially entitled to represent BANGLA culture and BANGLA history and even never hesited to give their life to keep it alive as a national language. They know very well what they are talking about. For us, our language is our "maa" and unlike many other so called BANGLA speaking(?) people, this relation gives us the authority to keep IT free from all polutions wherever it comes from or whoever does it. . ............JOY BANGLA.

Those who have posted their comments here, Can u people make something like these songs?????? By stealing, or by any other means ???????

This is really funny to see all you Music lovers saying all these nasty things about a person who has redefined the culture of a race single handedly.....

Though, ur actions or words mean nothing to anybody, but just for ur information, Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta recorded these Songs to make all aware of some of the Tagore songs which have the inspiration from western music..........

Mr Wahid,  Kabiguru has penned numerous songs which still gives People the reason to Live, to Love.......An they'll keep on  making the world a better place for billions through the ages to come... Trust me.......

And you have posted only 6 numbers here......  Neutral And, That's also a research work by someone else who has done it as an gesture of respect to "This thief who is a Noble Prize Winner" (u like him to be called this, right ????  Alas !!!!!).......

Anyway, thanks for the songs ....  And, u can ignore my post by calling me an ADDICT....  Grin

But, once again back to the point .... Make something like this or at least  anything near to it and then Condemn "Kabiguru Rabindranath Thakur" as whatever u feel like...

Afterall, that makes the statement.......Otherwise, everything else is Losers' barking...................
