Murchanas were used as the 'third key' by the designers of our ancient music, for opening their secret 'codes'. These details are explained in these presentation slides.

The concept of 'ancient music' itself is somewhat mystical. In addition, the 22 fractions that form the foundation for this music is a vast reservoir of 'mysticism'. A few examples are given in this presentation. However, my analysis id solely from the Hindu theological angle. Non-Hindu viewers may skip this.

Sadjagrama is the oldest musical asset acquired by the Indians. It consists of seven 'srutis' (or 'tones') which are believed to have been derived directly from the Hindu Sacred Scripture, Sama Veda. During my research work, I had discovered that these srutis are coded entities passed down by a highly advanced pre-historic civilization. I have now decoded them to discover that a sophisticated Ancient Music culture based on 22 tones per octave is lying dormant, waiting to be unleashed by us.
