I am a pastor at the Mountain View Christian Church in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I received my MDiv and MA from Lincoln Christian Seminary in Lincoln, Illinois (1984 & 1990). My MA thesis was Classical and Presuppositional Apologetics: A Study in Method in the Philosophy of Religio. My BSci is from Manhattan Christian College, Manhattan, Kansas (1978). I was greatly influenced by James Strauss, Francis Schaeffer, Herman Dooyeweerd, and Cornelius Van Til. Currently I am reading in the Puritans, and current scholars such as John Piper and Don Carson.

My wife, Shari (Portenier) and I are urban church planters and have been at the same project since 1986.
