Sculpture
Most of what you see here is solid American Black Walnut. I carved some of it on a copy carving machine that I made. One is from a real white-tail deer scull as a model. The girl is from an original sculpture that I made from steel, Bondo fender filler and epoxy sticks. There are two of her. An unfinished from walnut and a finished one that is carved in a rotten portion of the log. I think it gives the sculpture a lot of personality.

Queen Mary Replica
This is a replica of the "Queen Mary" Clarsa or wire strung harp. It took me about 8 months of actua l"hands on" work. It is all mahogany with a Sitka Spruce sound board that has been overlayed with mahogany veneer. The only thing holding the three main pieces together, ie. the forepillar, body and neck, is string tension. I sold this piece to a collector and celtic harper who lives in Japan.

robtmay writes:Hi djhoule,I didn't know those reducing carvers existed. I will have a look at them.I used to work at Lyon and Healey Harp company back in the 1970's and they had a multiple carver to do there columns and bases for the harps, but they did not reduce or enlarge. I thinl they did 12 copies at a time. Thanks for the info. I guess I am not the first to come up with it, but at least I can make use of it.I will put up an "in progress photo of my latest clay sculpture which I wil make a casting of and use for a model for my machines. I plan on putting it in the machine and carving it from walnut when finished. Thanks again for your interest and information.BobAdded 28 seconds ago
