About me

Pscy's first gig was as the DJ for a local (CT) rap cover band in the 1980's. Going by the name "DJ Sabotage", he backed up two MCs in the band "Frontline", covering artists like the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, and others. Instead of turntables, all music was played on samplers and keyboards, with beats looped and samples triggered live.

In 1991, under the name "Spike Satori", he self-produced a full-length rap album called "Realm of Reality" on which he performed all of the music and lyrics. The album was shopped to various labels, but was unfortunately never picked up.

In 1992, club tracks like "O Fortuna" by Apotheosis and "Jump" by "the Movement" lured Pscy into the rave scene, and he began performing at parties in New England, USA in 1993. Picking up the name DJ Pscy (originally Skyy), he began spinning hardcore breakbeats (the precursor to Jungle and Drum and Bass) in the Boston, MA area. Co-founder of the promotions company "40 Thieves Productions", Pscy began to pick up gigs from New York to Maine, maturing as a DJ as his music of choice evolved from breakbeats into trance. Pscy spun at the first rave ever thrown in Connecticut (Equilibrium), as well as several Acme Labs events, including Fantasy Project, Synthesis, and Flux.

After a brief retirement in 1995 during which time he moved from Boston to Connecticut, Pscy joined up with Columns of Knowledge, founded the 40 Thieves Cybertribe (a collective of DJ's from around the world), and set up one of the first Internet rave promotions sites. After a successful run culminating with a trip to Toronto to spin at "Destiny" and a guest spot on "Virtually Canadian" (one of the first Internet radio shows), he (abruptly) retired from professional DJ-ing for personal reasons in 1998.

Since his formal retirement, Pscy has kept active musically, making several mix CDs (the "Regenerate" series) in the early 2000s. Look for new Hard Trance, Drum and Bass, and Old-School Hip Hop mix CDs to become available via the Internet in 2007 and beyond.
