About me

Originally a hillbilly from way back in the back hills. Scot-Irish and Cherokee by ancestry. Raised in Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana. How far in the "back hills" did my family live?  Let's just say I can remember living in a home that had no electricity or indoor plumbing, and my mother cooking on a wood burning stove. After High School I went to a trade school to learn to become a computer technician on room sized main frames.  Then along came the Viet Nam war, I volunteered for the Navy, volunteered for assignment in Viet Nam.  And away I went.  The Navy didn't need any more computer or electronics specialists so I became a mechanic.  And went on to spend a career in the Navy.

Retired from the Navy, with a couple college degrees and several certifications, and now work with DDC (direct digital control) of Bulding Automation Systems (BAS), Energy Management, and Electronic Security and Safety systems.  On my pages you'll find some introductory manuals and materials that might be useful to any others who're interested in learning about Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; fluid power; control systems, electricity and electronics, and related subjects.  To the best of my knowledge, it's all legally free stuff. Some of it is dated, but still valid and useful. The info is divided into categories, and covers a range of subjects.  After all, if one is going to design and install wiring and sensor/actuator devices, and write computer programs to control a wide range of things ... one should actually know something about those things you're trying to control.  Or your program is gonna be faulty due to your ignorance. A good BAS technician or engineer needs to know a least a bit about a wide range of subjects.

BAS and DDC
BAS (Building Automation Systems) and DDC (Direct Digital Controls) is what I do for a living these days. They're dedicated computers used to control heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, security, and fire fighting/alarm systems in buildings. This folder will contain some introductory material that'll explain the basics and fundamentals.

HVAC-Software
Some simple and hopefully useful stuff. All are free to use as you wish. The apps I have made are basic and simple, on purpose. And should run adequately on any Windows system from Win 98 on up. They require no runtimes, added DLL's, or anything else. I've revised some since I found that they did not display properly on higher resolution screens.

NEETS
The Navy Electricity and Electronics Training Series (NEETS) was developed for use by personnel in many electrical and electronic related Navy ratings (jobs). This series provides beginners with fundamental electrical and electronic concepts through self-study. The series is designed to give small amounts of information that can be easily digested before advancing further into the more complex material.
