About me
I've always loved to take pictures! Thousands of photographs kept in shoe boxes, display albums and books! I only got myself a decent Digital Camera in 2005 so I have countless 'pre-digital' photos that still need to be scanned. I've probably done only around 1% of my total collection. The only piece of advice I got that I consider carries any real weight is to - "Take lots and lots of photos!". Now in the day of film and developing you always had a lot of good copies of bad photos... Thus you were forced to examine your 'mistakes' more carefully, more regularly. It's now nice and easy to delete the pics you're not happy with simply to make room for more better-quality shots. The crappy old prints us slightly older photographers were forced to have developed have helped teach us about almost everything we don’t like about our own pictures. That helped us to improve and evolve our techniques as we grew and it taught us to value a good-shot! It may have gotten a hell of a lot easier to "take lots and lots of photos" but we still need to appreciate the patience, precision and pre-cognitive skills a Professional Photographer must have in order to be in position for a desired picture. Such dedication can only be admired. And if I can taste a piece of that dedication in the attempt to be patient and precise through my art then I too will know how it feels to be a Professional Artist...
