Born : July 25th 1957 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain) 1965-1975 Completed his music studies at the Real conservatorium of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Classical direction) 1976-1985 Completed his music studies at the Las palmas Jazz Academy Main Subject: Guitar and Harmony. During those years he played in different formation. While the musical style varied from Salsa to big bands, and also accompanied famous singers. 1986-1987 Followed the Master Class course at the Dutch Hilversum Conservatorium by (Wim Overgauw) 1987-1995 He moved to Madrid to play with other musicians and to undergo new musical infuences.Jorge Pardo Group,Ruben Dantas Group,etc..and his own group Santy Roque Cuartet. TVE Jazz entre amigos a program concentrating on the developments of jazz music in Spain and presentd by Claudio Cifuentes. He also followed a masterclass of Berklee College of Music in Madrid given by Gary Burton. Besides playing with his own group and others ones as well he was an accompanist on tv-shows with singers such as:Nana Mouskouri,Dyango,Moncho,Julio Iglesias,Nikola di Bari etc... For the third Festival International de jazz Santy made a new formation called "Roque Brother".They toured around the whole archipielago together with musicians like: Stanley Jordan and others,while playing their own compositions. 1996-1990 He moved to Netherlands and settled down in Boskoop. Here he got the chance to compose his own material and to get impressions and interpretations od the Dutch musicians. In july 2001,he is contracted by Stage Holding to play in a new production of H.O.I (Holiday On Ice In Concert). He is not only an active member of the band but also has a part of his own as a Lead singer (lyric tenor). In his own compositions and arrangements Santy Roque has definitely developed an own style. His Jazz interpretations have typical Spanish but also Latin-American influences.He does not deny his roots.In spite of the fact that he has been influenced bym people like J. Scofield and others . His style maintained original and his sound authentic,all made possible by the unbelievable technic control of his instrument.
