Photos are from July 5, 1986: before, during, and after the Great Blimp Race in conjunction with the Statue of Liberty Centennial Celebrations! The race finish was as follows: winner - Fuji Film Skyship 500, 2nd place - Resorts International Casino Skyship 600, 3rd place - McDonald's WDL Airship, 4th place - Citibank Skyship 500. The white unmarked Skyship 600 was the New York Daily News press blimp. 2 Goodyear blimps in the area did not participate in the blimp race.
