How do you check if you're walking at the right pace?

I don`t - what does it matter as long as I'm walking.

I just try to keep a fast pace most of the time but sometimes I forget.

I make sure to walk fast enough that I'm pushing myself and breathing heavily because I read that's a good indication of reaching the proper heart rate.

I'm always with my heart rate watch to make sure my heart rate doesn't drop below the point of effective fat burning.

Do you prefer training by yourself or with other people?

If I don't go with someone, I'm less likely to go on walks.

I need a group, or at least one more person to make it bearable.

Doesn't matter. Sometimes I go with people, and sometimes alone, the important thing is to work out.

Do you vary your workout?

I try to vary the route I take and the speed as well.

Of course. I've got a program setting for walking at different speeds which changes from walk to walk.

Do you challenge yourself when you work out?

The walk is a challenge in and of itself.

I decide on a number of walks per week and the challenge is to go on that many walks.

During the workout, I try to quicken my pace and see how long I can keep it up.

My walks are planned according to heart rate and every now and then I increase the heart rate in the program so I can improve.

How do you avoid getting bored while you work out?
1.
I don't work out on a regular basis so it doesn't get to the point where I'd get bored.
2.
I talk on the phone with all the friends I haven't had a chance to talk to during the week.
3.
I go with a friend to make the time pass more quickly.
4.
I listen to music. It makes the time fly and helps me keep my pace up.
