I am Dr.Siva Bodagala. I am a doctor of Medicine by profession but music has been a very important part of my life.
I was born in a small village in Andhra Pradesh. I remember being about 8 years old when I first started singing. I was very fond of and influenced by a great Telugu singer called Ghantasala. I learned some Carnatic music from my Guru Sripada Pinakapani, a renowned Carnatic musician and a physician too. Some of my favourite ragas in Carnatic music are Kalyani, Thodi, Chakravaakam , Bhageswari and Hindolam.
My favorite Hindi singers are Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Mohammad Rafi. I used to give a lot of public performances in my college days. I used to be the leader of our music band called ‘ Syringes and Needles’ in our medical school in Kurnool, A.P. India.
I am happily married for 28 years. I thank my wife Taraka, my son Prem and daughter Hima for encouraging, helping, and sometimes critiquing my singing at home.
