About me

The Kichesipirini Algonquin First Nation is happy to make available a preview of some of their Aboriginal Artwork depicting our important role as environmental stewards and traditional international governance at the current online location;

Become a part of international history by supporting the Kichesipirini and their important international developments.

 The Kichesipirini Algonquins are a proud member of the greater Algonquin Proper. Our existence is strongly documented and recorded. Our traditional land base has been the islands and surrounding regions and shorelines of the Allumette/Calumet/ Cotnam/ Morrison Islands and the Ottawa (Kichesippi) River, inclusive of both provinces of Ontario and Quebec. The Kichesipirini controlled economic activity of the Ottawa River and surrounding region. We were considered one of the most powerful Aboriginal nations in existence at the time of European contact. We played an important, and tragic, role in the development of Canada and our continued existence deserves to be acknowledged.

All Nations committed to the Rule of Law, like Canada, and the provinces, have a moral obligation to take responsibility for inappropriate actions. They are to be held accountable. Tremendous financial resources are being invested into Land Claim processes. We need to ensure that those processes are truthful and that resources go where there is need.

The Kichesipirini is thoroughly committed to our traditional values, our unique history and its diverse affects, and the principles of excellent governance. We are currently drafting interim constitutions, charters, by-laws and policies that draw from the best of combined governance models from around the world. We are totally dedicated to establishing a Nation that can be identified with pride, that is responsive and trustworthy. We possess a dignified and proud history…..we expect nothing less in our future.

Correspondence
Kichesipirini Algonquin First nation has been actively attempting to gain recognition and inclusion in the Algonquins in Ontario Land Claim negotiations. We have raised concerns about a number of issues. Of particular concern are matters of good governance, anti-corruption mechanisms, accountability and historical integrity. We are committed to transperancy so we have made these files available.

Music is put here to level many brothers and sisters moral, so many live in great poverty and misery, I thought it was the right thing to do at the least... At the most, I could voice my support in favor of the brothers and sisters, go to Pow-Wows to encourage their Craftsmen and artists. Culture must expand in order to give it some survival chance and I am for good education in the Native language and I am seeing great progress in march right now. I am amazed by the results and the total implication of the elders, the teachers and parents. I just hope that the Kichesipirini Nation will get all of that soon...

Salutations...
