About me

The more I age the harder it is for me to be inspired. Is that suppose to happen? Or am I going through some sort of mid life crises, late as usual. When I was a student in my twenties I found inspiration in most things. What was frustrating in those days was I hadn't acquired the skills to portray what I was feeling at the time. And like so many young men in their youth, had their minds on other things rather then studying what they should have been studying; in my case, art. Anyway, I got through those years and now I feel confidant to paint without thinking about how to do it and the distractions of life have become less over the years. But I still look back and believe I should have studied harder. Perhaps I should practice my own philosophy of life on that issue. Anyway, it's time to paint abstract a little voice in my head told me. And perhaps it is the only way forward and the one way to unleash my own individuality and style. For me painting abstracts is a painting adventure; a personal experience full of serendipitous surprises. I start an abstract with shapes that have no other meaning but to appear harmonious on the canvas. Then, when the painting is in full swing I step back to look and am surprised to see shapes and forms in it I wasn't aware of while I was painting. I didn't paint that fish in there deliberately or draw that snake in because I planned it that way. Nevertheless, they are there and a integral part of the painting. But what do these symbols mean? And where do they come from? But what's more intriguing is where are they taking me?

Landscape, Seascape and Still Life
Landscape and seascape have been a passion of mine ever since I began to paint. I love the countryside and being by the sea so it is natural for me when I visit these places to paint them.

On the contrary , I think to grow older is to be more aware and therefore to "see" better. I'm sure you would have noticed that in your approach to painting now than back in '83......anyway , you are very talented and am sure have never looked back....Cheers.
