Born in London. Lived in Sri Lanka aged 8 to 15.
Migrated to Australia in 1976. Studied medicine at University of Queensland before moving to Melbourne in 1988.
Worked as general practitioner till 2001; also sang and played guitar/bass in bands including Strange Etiquette (Brisbane) and The Figgs (Melbourne).
Research into music and the brain from 1995, completing Music and the Brain: Therapeutic Use of Music in 2002.
Also published "Psychiatric Tales and Words about Life" in 1997.
Unpublished books include "The Politics of Schizophrenia" (2000) and Eugenics and Genocide in the Modern World (2001).
