Venerable Sāriputta was one of the two chief disciples of the Buddha. Highly regarded as the Marshal of the Dhamma, he was second only to Buddha in the depth and range of his understanding and his ability to teach the Doctrine of Deliverance. Beloved throughout the time, he was unique in his patience and steadfastness; and modest and upright in thought, word and deed; and as a man who remembered with gratitude even a small act of kindness done to him.
