Paper presents an inlet flow distortion study on a single axial fan and a contra-Rotating Twin rotor axial fan. A significant outcome is that in spite of a higher distortion, counter-swirl produces a lower degradation in performance compared to the co-swirl, which has lower distortion intensity. Also, the performance penalty in the case of the contra-rotating unit is less as compared to the single axial fan.
