Houraiji - Houraiji is a small Shingon sect temple high up in the mountains of Aichi prefecture, near the small town of Shinshiro. It is said there are 2000 steps leading up to the hondo (main temple building). If not 2000, then certainly something like that. I was very tired after that hike which lasted 8 hours total. Beyond the hondo the trail winds up and up to the top of Houraiji mountain. Then you can walk along the ridges and down into the valleys on the mountains.
