The Ishtar Gate was one of the entrances to the ancient walled city of Babylon, and the road leading to it was a processional way. The recording is an unfinished demo. In retrospect it would have been easier to program the rhythm section with a combination of sequencers, but these parts were played in real time. Cited in the blog below (scroll to the picture of the Ishtar Gate).
