One of the primary misconceptions among non-muslims is women in Islam are oppressed and subjugated. Often ayaat [verses] are taken out of their Qur'anic context giving rise to common allegations such as in Islam, women are considered infirior to men. That Islam allows the beating of woman. It degrades the her by forcing her to cover up. A woman only gets half the inheritance compared to a man. Two female witnesses equal one male witness and so on.
