The current attempt to insert so-called “Intelligent Design” into science classes is not only a violation of Church and State; it is the last gasp of a Fundamentalist faith that ties its validity to a pre-scientific world view. The danger of hitching your faith to an out-of-date paradigm is that when the paradigm dies, so does your faith.
