For illustration purposes only, here is a more difficult skin mod for player and mplayer. I started with a stock mplayer body.I removed tattoos.I went and found a pic of rattlesnake skin, and resized so it was the scale I wanted.I pasted it as a transluscent layer over my mod body skin. I also went and found some chain mail pics, and did the same for the player pants. One can open the stock skin dmt files, and see where the pieces fit on the body.It is like how they make flat maps of a globe. The pictures have to be made to wrap around a 3d image. In the real 3d modeling world one has 3d software to do this. With a little work it can be done with flat 2d tools.3d purists with their expensive graphic tools will scoff, but too bad.I work on the skins at 400 or 800 percent enlarged. Then resize when I am done to the original 256x256 pixel 24 bit bitmap and rename back to filename_.dmt.One can have a lot of fun with color levels and such.It was easy to end up with many hundreds of skin mods. The odd part is that I seldom play the game. |
