Mommy cries in the kitchen her eye is black and blue. She says "baby daddy didn't mean to." Every night they fuss and fight. I put the pillow over my head just to sleep at night. Is this how it's gonna be? When I get older is some man gonna beat me?
When I grow up I'm gonna be tough. I aint gonna be like my mom. Anyone touches me and I'll go off. See this is what I've learned, violence isn't the answer, but when that's all you see how can you do anything differently?....

I can relate to this song. I believe we can learn from other peoples mistakes and also be stronger and more successful along the way by just breaking that 'chain'. Good to hear you agian Angela  |

your lyrics have brought tears to my eyes, so many women and men are or have been affected by domestic violence, thank goodness its something i have never saw or experienced but my parents were foster parents and my foster sister who thank god is now the proud mommy of 3 children and is very happily marries experienced in her childhood so much abuse its enough to write a book....this was impacting and sends a clear messege!!!! kudos!  |
