[for flute, trombone, timpani, piano, mandolin, banjo and viola]—Inspired by an illustrated pun by my father, this 9/8 romp includes radio call-letter music, 1950s doowop, and what I consider a rather moving piano solo (in light of the means I used to compose it). The melody from about 2:17 onward is based on a tune I once improvised called “I’m Talking in Nine-Eight.”
