Susie died in August of 1903. Captain Sam had a very long life and died in the 1930s. Captain Sam was a Yosemite-Mono Lake Paiute. He and Susie had several children. Leanna, Louisa, George, Mattie and Pete (Pete died very young). Sisters Louisa and Leanna Sam married Paiute Bridgeport Tom and had many children. He became Chief of the Yosemite-Mono Lake Paiutes at a very young age. He was chief during the time when non-indigenous people were entering the area. Captain John died in 1924.
